Already in the 30s of the last century in January Zoontjens was looking for better care methods for its pigeons. His guide was doing the book "Human Nutrition, vitamins duiven en" (feeding, vitamins and pigeons) by Arie Van den Hoek. This book gave him the idea that existing commercial mixtures for pigeons to seven. The small grain forage he gave at the beginning of the week and the coarse feed, which consisted of different varieties of corn and peas, during the last days before basketing. His love for pigeon racing and his knowledge of feeding he gave to his son Wal further, who built the pigeon stock extremely successfully.
