While in our part of the tourist season had already found its final and is so slow everything is quiet on the native dovecotes stand to even the final race for the Derby pigeons of Mallorca Derby 2016th

An ideal time therefore for pigeon fanciers to a few relaxing days to spend in beautiful summer temperatures with loved ones or friends on the sunny island of Mallorca. Many participants took advantage of the offer of the organizing team and spent some nice days in Breeder Hotel "Riu Concordia" at the Playa de Palma. In a pleasant atmosphere was a lot of time to talk about our wonderful hobby or simply to meet new friends.

In total 620 pigeons were delivered from late April to late May. An international group of participants from the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Spain and Germany competed for the victory.

With 570 pigeons it went to the adjustment period in the training flights, which were all launched from the island. Following were three price flights Auflässen at sea. The Derby pigeons were thus optimally to the final race over about 260 km (of which more than 200 km over water) prepared. A particular challenge, but perfectly mastered the Derby pigeons as you could see from the results of the finale.

Am Abend vor dem Finale wurden die Derbytauben unter tatkräftiger Unterstützung anwesender Teilnehmer eingekorbt. 319 Tauben nahmen schließlich am Finalflug teil. Die Anwesenden konnten sich vom optimalen Zustand der Tauben überzeugen.

Am Samstag, den 08. Oktober war es dann schließlich so weit. Vom Züchterhotel aus ging es in gecharterten Bussen zur Schlaganlage in Inca-Sencelles. Darüber hinaus waren zahlreiche weitere Gäste zum Teil mit Mietwagen aus anderen Regionen der Insel angereist und man verfolgte gemeinsam den Finalflug. Bei spanischen Leckereien und Getränken wurde die Wartezeit bis zum Eintreffen der Derbytauben schnell überbrückt. Das beliebte Tippspiel fand ebenfalls reichlich Zuspruch und viele Teilnehmer nutzten die Möglichkeit auf ihre Lieblinge zu setzen.

On the farm, it was agreed that it was an excellent flight performance and the guests applauded appreciatively upon arrival of the pigeons.

The victory won the team SAS that could enjoy the profit of € 6,000.00. Bred was the dove of Uwe Neubauer, who was able to enter as early as 2012 at the Algarve Golden Race in Portugal in the list of winners. The first ten places went:

In the As-pigeons rating deservedly prevailed a dove of teams Tollisan who achieved a first bankruptcy already on the second flight price.

The Ladys Cup for registered pure ladies team won the final race, the team of Eichsfeld-Ladys with the third bankruptcy.

With the participation of the mayor of Inca, the award ceremony took place in the afternoon. Under applause the winners present received their award.

After the event, it was back in the provided buses. A successful event so slowly came to an end.

In breeder hotel or on the most fashionable district of Playa de Palma enough time was then still celebrate the deserved winner. Some winning beer or cocktail is still consumed.

Summing remains that with the date of the finale in October, an almost ideal time is found. After a long journey season when so slowly calm has returned to his native pigeon, one a short stay can spend on Mallorca and combine it with our beautiful hobby by a participation in the Mallorca Derby in glorious summer temperatures of rest with family or friends.
