VANROBAEYS Current 2023…

The racing season for old pigeons is in full swing and it is difficult to speak of a "balanced" racing year given the persistent weather conditions. Due to the previously prevailing flights, which have just taken place in relation to the wind influences, it had to be determined that the "weights" have changed considerably when it comes to south-west compared to south-east, at least so far in 2023. If one spoke up to now of the "easier" south-west direction, one can see that this has changed (at least so far).

Here is an example:

a) 7 flights in a south-west direction (Source: RV Viernheim u. Surroundings/www.taubensar.de) Total kilometers: 1,594 Prskm. = Total: 8,803 m/min. = avg. per flight = 1,258 flgm/min.

b) 7 flights south-east (Source: RV Volmetal 05/www.taubensar.de) Total kilometers: 2,320 Prskm. = total: 10,821 m/min = avg. per flight = 1,546 flgm/min.

Due to these facts, of course, it could also be stated that the inexperienced and faster pigeons, especially in the south-west direction, have (at least so far) had a hard time. Due to this fact, the supply has to be considered in many places, because with these processes it makes little sense to deal further with the special mixtures for the so-called "lighter direction". A good example is certainly the Platteeuw team from Rumbeke, Belgium (see below).

In this context, another fact from Belgium should be brought closer to the weekend!

Some breeders from the Antwerp area wanted to know how their pigeons behaved on the return flight from the national race from Argenton and therefore put some pigeons in "GPS pigeon rings". This enabled them to determine the flight routes of the pigeons after the pigeons had returned home after the flight had been completed.

And what was found? Now that the pigeons took a direction that was not expected!

Since the national races were brought forward to Friday due to the weather conditions, the 30,318 pigeons were released in Argenton at 7:05 am. In West-Vlaanderen you had about 490 km and in Antwerp about 550 km (Source: Chris Debacker, Beven Laie = 492.309 km = 13:45:11 = 3rd National - Family Geerinckx, Wooelgem = 550 km = 14: 59:32 = 96. National).

What had the pigeons done? Well, after evaluation, it was found that the pigeons mostly flew along the coast, i.e. west, and only "turned" towards the west towards the interior of the country at the end, thus covering an additional 150-200 km. The pigeons probably preferred the "cooler route" of the coast before flying inland. A closer look at the "radar" of this flight at KBDB further underscores the fact.

TEAM PLATTEUUW, RUMBEKE DOMINATE THE NATIONAL FUG VALENCE 2023

On Friday, June 9, 2023, the national flight from Valence took off with 6,089 Oude at 7:00 a.m. In the West-Vlaanderen region and here in Rumbeke (681km), one expected, especially based on the last results, that one could do quite well. But what happened next was a "show" in relation to this flight!

„Andrea“ (previously: 4e Bourges vs. 699 p. – 8e Chateauroux vs. 119 p.) won the 1e National Valence and thus the 10e National for the Platteeuw team!

Des Weiteren: 3e – 4e – 11e – 13e – 27e – 42e – 70e – 85e – 91e = 10 x TOP 100 – 3 x TOP 10

At the same time, the national flight from Argenton was also taken part this weekend in order to collect points for a final ranking here as well. The total number of pigeons entered here was 13,108 Oude + 17,210 Jaarse = 30,3185 pigeons. For Rumbeke, this was a distance of 495 km.

The result: 33e (4e Oude) – 35e – 88e – 93e = 4 x TOP 100

The Platteeuw system with "Platteeuw Special" No. 523 from Vanrobaeys has once again underpinned its importance!!

More results from Argenton:

Gino Clique, Wevelgem – 483 km 5e – 22e – 48e – 49e – 74e – 80e – 100e = 8 x Top 100
