"Good pigeons can do anything, can nothing bad pigeons!

How did it start?

It was the grandfather of Odiel Vanluechene, who introduced the pigeon sport in the family Vanluechene-Platteeuw. Odiel was an avid breeder and built up a solid base. Since he died but way too early, this pigeon colony threatened to get quickly lost. His wife but found that this was too bad and asked RAF Platteeuw play progress to the pigeons of her husband. RAF took on this challenge together with his son, Kurt. Built the colony, with pigeons from Eric Vermander (Oekene), Sylvère Toye (Otegem), DeVos E. & F. (Deerlijk), Gerard Labiau (Zegelsem), Samyn Erwin (Ichtegem), Wilfried Vandemaele and Martin Mitchell (Hulste) further out.

After this beginning, RAF and Kurt were normal travelling pigeon fanciers, sports enthusiasts like you and me. Not only success-oriented – but soon came the passion for success-oriented pigeon sport. The plans were changed in 2007. RAF and Kurt had failed to understand first why they not successfully played with their pigeons. After some consideration and much common sense, they adopted the usual systems.

A wenigzu much and was a little too fast to help the medicine cabinet in the past. There was much money spent fürMedikamente and the pigeon stock has been getting weaker and resistant to the smallest discomfort.

The start of success.

Father RAF decided to breed more of the racers, and not only of the so-called breeders. The opinion of father and son Platteeuw …. There are not so many good breeders. You gave up too many vet visits and medicines. They started with a natural selection of the fittest. The pigeons were bahadori played, played and replayed. Youngsters with problems were quickly out of the team. Only the best have been retained. Parallel purchased pigeons of best origin for a lot of money. Quickly it became clear but also because that "Paper" in the pigeon sport not always keeps what it promises. The own, strictly selected pigeons were suddenly much better.

In 2009, Kurt and RAF Platteeuw had the first placement at the provincial level.

From 2010 to 2013, they have not less than 27 controllers pigeons at national and provincial level (2014 was the best year of ever, not yet evaluated).

In the last 3 years, they won more than 100 positions in the TOP 100

at the national level.

No one could ever have this in Belgium!

 

The conditions

Kurt and Platteeuw have RAF 200 pigeons, including the breeders. 150 are on the racing loft. All 150 pigeons are played. Females the males fly every week, every 2 weeks. Some critics might say now that Platteeuw plays with many pigeons. That's right. But very many breeders have also 200 pigeons on the loft, however only playing 20 or 30! And where are the other...?

Something to the system

Until recently, Kurt and RAF Platteeuw had help by a hired caretaker, which partly took care of the pigeons. Today, father and son share the applicable activities on the Loft. Every minute is denied, because the family Platteeuw operates a large company in the shoe industry, time is short. Father and son talk about everything and decide any action together. Before and after work, during lunchtime, all free time they spend on the beats. As already mentioned, almost all pigeons be played. 120 youngsters, 150 old birds and females. The youngsters be separated at times and played for the "sliding door"method. You are blacked out until end of May. The feed mixtures be put together itself. The last days before the Einkorben be given lots of peanuts and cheese. Also oils are added. Here one relies on the products by PROBAC-Dr Brockamp (Probac 1000 – Probac energy). Every three weeks is an Appertex Tablet administered all racers and against cancer drops by Koehorn. There are no medicines for diseases of the respiratory tract, but in particular the youngsters get regularly different drops with only natural ingredients.

Passers-by are only mixtures VANROBAEYS., partly own mixes which are made in the order.

 

EinigeFaustregeln by Kurt Platteeuw:

1. We play all flights from the first to the last, and always for the victory. So all distances, all categories, all flights. Many breeders do not, because they do not have the doves which can do this.We are proud to be able to say that we have an all-round stock today.
2. We discuss the benefits only on national level with us. Great masters are those who achieve their results at the national level, and not the local, provincial and regional results …The national results are the ones that really count in Belgium!
3. Always better breed! We try to play, and also against the wind against the masses. We have about 80% of flights westerly winds, where we have less chance of national rule. So we can try only one … better pigeons breed, to beat the other. Today, we can say on the basis of our results that we have bred a variety that represents the best of Belgium for flights of less als1200 m/min.
4. Motivation is the key to success! We have won almost everything you can in about two to three year win. We are the einzigenWest Flemings in the Cranach of Belgian pigeon sport, which fund K.B.D.B. have won the title of 1st Kampioen Grote halve.We are however also super motivated, because if the passion, motivation is gone, the good results are also away quickly.
5. Awinning never change team! Becoming a champion is difficult, aberan remain top is even harder. We try to keep our Champions together, it is sold not AS pigeon. We would do this only eins...der remains look back.
