Rik has been "retired" for a few years - at least as far as his job is concerned, because as a real pigeon fancier you almost never have peace. He still spends most of his time in his dovecote. He already showed top results when he was still working, but with the extra time he can take care of his pigeons perfectly and appears at the front of the field even more often.

He has specialized in playing with the females. His tribe is formed by a very strong group of pigeons that perform excellently on several lofts. Rik is a man who likes to plan and therefore follows a fixed schedule: The females train twice a day for about 45 minutes. At the beginning of the week they are given a light mixture. Toward the end of the week, their meals become heavier because they need enough energy to compete. For this he uses a lot of energy oil and high-fat seeds (peanuts and sunflower seeds).

He also tries to limit the use of medication, since these only have a very short-term effect and are rather disadvantageous in the long run. The pigeons are treated only on the advice of the veterinarian.

Rik has been using the female system for more than twelve years and is constantly perfecting it. On arrival from the flight, the pigeons are given Avipharm and Mumm, which means that they are back on their feet in no time. In the following days, the pigeons are given Avidress Plus, which protects them from infections and makes it much easier to keep them healthy overall. It also has a positive effect on the intestines and is easily drunk by the pigeons once they get used to it. In his breeding loft, Rik uses it 365 days a year. To make sure his team of hens stay in good shape, he uses Gervit-W and Bt-Amin forte once a week. Sometimes he uses Blitzform for a whole week because extra iodine can sometimes do wonders and ensure the pigeons get nice, clean breast meat and white noses. During the trip he uses Carni-Speed ​​daily (also in combination with the products already mentioned). Carni-Speed ​​contributes to faster recovery and a great joy of flying.
