BEYERS – Preparing for the youngsters' racing season…

Young pigeons grow from a small nestling to a young pigeon within a short period of time. The youngsters are often weaned at the age of 22 to 25 days. However, their growth is not yet complete. They still have to develop further to the young adult pigeon. This takes a lot out of your metabolism. After weaning, a grain mixture with highly digestible proteins (= building blocks) is not an exaggerated luxury. It is highly recommended to continue feeding a high-quality BEYERS breeding mixture in sufficient quantities for a period of ± 5 to 6 weeks. In this phase of growth and the long time until the start of the racing season you don't need to worry that the feed is too fatty. The first molt of the down is also best accompanied with a mixture rich in fat and protein. Depending on how you have planned your program, the desired level of fitness and the time of training, the training intensity can be controlled with heavier or lighter feed (= more raw fibres). Not feeding less, but adding in extra fiber means giving more carbohydrates and less fats, increasing the desire to train. As the duration of the training flights increases, we gradually add more fats to supply the energy required for this. Playing with the balance between carbohydrates and fats. For this period (± 5 to 6 weeks up to 2 weeks before training), BEYERS has a variety of high-quality mixtures on offer (light, low in protein and with enough carbohydrates) which, in conjunction with a BEYERS breeding mixture (high in protein and fat), Balance the ratio of carbohydrates and fats perfectly. From 2 weeks before training, we recommend replacing the breeding mix with a racing mix to ease the transition to the racing season. Shortly before the start of the racing season, you can switch to one of our racing mixtures with a corresponding feeding schedule.
